<br />Use of Sa1t and Sand
<br />The c6ity may use salt salt brine, sand, or a miYture thereof when there is hazaidous ice or other condiuons
<br />that warsant their use. Application will follow the same priorities followed for snow and ice control set forth
<br />in the "Snow and Ice Contiol Prioriues" section. The �city is concemed about the effect of such chemicals
<br />on the envitonment and will limit their use for that reason. Applicauon of sand�salt will be limited on lower
<br />volume streets. The "�-��������'�-�-�Street and Park Superintendent or designee(s� shall detem7ine when
<br />conditions warsant the application of sand and/or salt, and what mixture is appropriate for the conditions.
<br />Snow Removal
<br />Snow removal operauons shall be perforcned on streets, alleys, walks, park�iglots and trails maintained by
<br />the c6ity. -Snow removal priority and scheduling shall be based on needs and conditions; and shall be
<br />detezmined by the �trHlie F�lsrl�sStreet and Park Superintendent or designee(s�.
<br />Method of Snow Removal
<br />Snow will be plowed in a manner ��minimizi�e traffic obstructions. The center of the roadway will
<br />be plowed first The discharge shall go onto the boulevaid aiea of the street and minimi7e or reduce snow
<br />stack upon walkways, where pracucal.
<br />Weather Conditions/Suspension of Operations
<br />Snow and ice control operations will be conducted only when weather conditions do not endanger the
<br />safety of city employees and equipment Factors that may delay snow and ice control operations include
<br />severe cold, significant winds, limited visib�lity, or damaged equipment
<br />GeneraIly, operauons shall continue until all roads aie passable. Widenin� and clean-up operations may
<br />continue iuiinediately or on the following re�larlv scheduled �yc�orkdav depending upon conditions
<br />and circumstances. �x€e�=The safetv of the plow operators and the public is essential. Therefore, snow
<br />operations may be suspended temporaz�ly to allow personnel adequate time for rest There
<br />may be instances when this is not possible depending on storcn condiuons and other circumstances.
<br />Operations may also be suspended during periods of limited visib�lity. Any decision to suspend operations
<br />shall be made by the �-'-'=-�m�'--'-sStreet and Park Superintendent or designee(s) and shall be based on the
<br />conditions of the storcn. The c6ity will still provide access for emergency fi�e, police, ��medical and utlitv
<br />seivices during a major snow or ice storm.
