<br />Park & Recreation Meeting Minutes <br />September 10, 1997 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Discussion - Gazebo in City Parkinq Lot <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Phil Hals, indicated Anthony Mikols is proposing to build a gazebo on city property <br />adjacent to his photography studio in the downtown. Staff will submit plans for <br />the Park and Recreation Commission to review when they become available. <br /> <br />8. Review Sherburne County Parks, Trails and Ooen Soace Plan <br /> <br />A copy of the plan will be mailed to the Commissioners. <br /> <br />9. Discussion - Park Bond Referendum <br /> <br />Chair Anderson updated the Commission on the recent activities of the Bond <br />Referendum Committee, regarding the telephone campaign, signs, newspaper <br />coverage, and hotline. Chair Anderson encouraged the Commissioners to <br />attend a phone session on either Tuesday or Thursday the following week. <br /> <br />10. Staff Uodates - Phil Hals <br /> <br />10.1. Lions Park - Phil indicated that the hockey boards at Lions Park are in need <br />of replacement, due to the peat movement and quality of wood used. <br />He suggests removing the old boards and building some type of portable <br />system. Phil will be contacting the "Sentence to Service" program <br />through the County for help in removing the old boards. The bituminous <br />trails are currently under construction and will be completed in <br />approximately 2 weeks. The Lions have indicated they still will be <br />interested in constructing a teen center, even if the referendum fails. Phil <br />noted he has fill available to make the necessary soil corrections for <br />construction of the building. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />10.2. Elk River Youth Athletic Comolex (ERYACI Field Lavout - Phil updated the <br />Commission on progress at the ERY AC. <br /> <br />11. Other Business <br /> <br />11.a. Commissioner Madsen submitted a water quality report he received for <br />Lake Orono. Staff will copy and distribute the report to all Commission <br />members. <br /> <br />11 .b. Commissioner Huberty reported she has been accepted for the <br />Leadership Training sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. The City of <br />Elk River will fund the training and noted Councilmember Daryl Thompson <br />will be attending the training as well. <br /> <br />"8. .......Adiournmemt <br /> <br /> <br />There being no further business, COMMISSIONER MADSEN MOVED TO ADJOURN <br />THE MEETING. COMMISSIONER OLSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />. <br />
