Members of the Commission discussed snowmobile trail locations and made recommendations to staff. COMMISSIONER MADSEN MOVED TO ACCEPT THE MASTER PARK PLAN WITH THE CHANGES INDICATED TO STAFF. COMMISSIONER WESTRUM SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. Commissioner Dave Anderson noted that Sherburne County will hold the public hearing on the county's park plan on June 3, 1997 at 7 p.m. at the County Government Center. He encouraged the Park & Recreation Commissioners to contact their county board representative to encourage their support for the plan. 10. 11. Communitv Recreation Update (Jeff Asfahll Update on Skateboard Park Jeff reviewed estimated costs associated with the proposed skateboard park: Insurance $ 8,500 Construction/fencing 33,000 Staff (supervision - 180days per year -5 hrs. per day)) Ramp costs 20,000 30.000 Total Estimated Cost $91.500 Jeff discussed possible revenue sources such as user fees. passes. and different fees for non-residents versus residents. Jeff also offered suggestions for reducing expenses such as having labor, materials and concrete donated. Members of staff and the Park & Recreation Commission discussed whether or not there may be a way to provide a site for 1 year without making the large financial commitment. A "wait and see" approach would be taken to see if a skateboarding park could financially support itself and if there is enough interest to warrant the expense. COMMISSIONER KUESTER MOVED THE PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMEND SUPPORT OF $8,500 IN FUNDS FOR THE FIRST YEAR'S LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR A SKATEBOARDING PARK AND SECURING A SITE. THE CITY'S COMMITTMENT WOULD BE DEPENDENT ON THE INTEREST OF THE SKATEBOARDING ENTHUSIASTS AND THEIR ABILITY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF PROFESSIONALLY BUILT EQUIPMENT TO BE USED AT THE SITE. COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. County Road 12 Uparade Discussion Snowmobile Corridors Discussion These items were discussed in the Master Park Plan Update. Changes discussed will be made in the maps by Steve Rohlf for review at the next meeting.
