Members of <br />the Commission discussed snowmobile trail locations and made <br />recommendations to staff. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER MADSEN MOVED TO ACCEPT THE MASTER PARK PLAN WITH THE <br />CHANGES INDICATED TO STAFF. COMMISSIONER WESTRUM SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson noted that Sherburne County will hold the public <br />hearing on the county's park plan on June 3, 1997 at 7 p.m. at the County <br />Government Center. He encouraged the Park & Recreation Commissioners to <br />contact their county board representative to encourage their support for the <br />plan. <br /> <br />10. <br />11. <br /> <br />Communitv Recreation Update (Jeff Asfahll <br />Update on Skateboard Park <br /> <br />Jeff reviewed estimated costs associated with the proposed skateboard park: <br />Insurance $ 8,500 <br />Construction/fencing 33,000 <br />Staff (supervision - 180days <br />per year -5 hrs. per day)) <br />Ramp costs <br /> <br />20,000 <br />30.000 <br /> <br />Total Estimated Cost <br /> <br />$91.500 <br /> <br />Jeff discussed possible revenue sources such as user fees. passes. and different <br />fees for non-residents versus residents. Jeff also offered suggestions for reducing <br />expenses such as having labor, materials and concrete donated. Members of <br />staff and the Park & Recreation Commission discussed whether or not there may <br />be a way to provide a site for 1 year without making the large financial <br />commitment. A "wait and see" approach would be taken to see if a <br />skateboarding park could financially support itself and if there is enough interest <br />to warrant the expense. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KUESTER MOVED THE PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />RECOMMEND SUPPORT OF $8,500 IN FUNDS FOR THE FIRST YEAR'S LIABILITY <br />INSURANCE FOR A SKATEBOARDING PARK AND SECURING A SITE. THE CITY'S <br />COMMITTMENT WOULD BE DEPENDENT ON THE INTEREST OF THE SKATEBOARDING <br />ENTHUSIASTS AND THEIR ABILITY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF <br />PROFESSIONALLY BUILT EQUIPMENT TO BE USED AT THE SITE. COMMISSIONER DAVE <br />ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />County Road 12 Uparade Discussion <br />Snowmobile Corridors Discussion <br /> <br />These items were discussed in the Master Park Plan Update. Changes discussed <br />will be made in the maps by Steve Rohlf for review at the next meeting. <br />
