<br />Elk River Park and Recreation Commission <br />December 13, 1995 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />discussed for the current playing fields which cost around $125,000 and would <br />help for longer playing time. A consensus was reached between the Youth <br />A thletics Association to consider charging each child a player fee of $10.00 to <br />help fund the purchase of the Cass property. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson stated responsibility is to the citizens of Elk River <br />and to convince the surrounding communities to put in their fair share. <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Superintendent will redo the Cass Property project plans to <br />accommodate for. <br />-280 foot fences on playing fields <br />-Fences should be a. quarter radius <br />-8 foot fences <br />-backstops - umbrella <br />-80 foot bases <br />-Ag lime infields <br />-4 fields needed for tournaments. <br />-If there is room for 2 more fields 240 foot fences are all right for the <br />softball fields <br /> <br />Commissioner Tuttle left at this time (9:05 p.m.). <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Update from Community Recreation Coordinator Jeff Asfahl <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Jeff Asfahl, Community Recreation Coordinator, updated the commiSSion on <br />current and upcoming activities from the Community Recreation office. <br /> <br />7. Update on Community Center - Lana Hubertv <br /> <br />Commissioner Huberty was not present for this item. Phil Hals, Street/Park <br />Superintendent had spoken with Commissioner Huberty and stated that she and <br />Mayor Duitsman had both been working on the community center project from <br />separate view points at this time. <br /> <br />8. Staff Updates <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Department updated the commission on the installation of <br />Lions Park equipment. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DANA ANDERSON MOVED FOR PHIL TO CONIACT THE LIONS FOR <br />THE LOCATION, SITE PLANS AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE INSTALLATION OF LIONS <br />PARK EQUIPMENT AND MUST MEET STAFF CRITERIA. COMMISSIONER OLSON <br />SECONDED IHE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />Phil Hals, Street/Park Department suggested custom making a portable warming <br />house which could be taken down after the winter season for the Handke pit. <br />Phil Hals has received information from the State of Minnesota for the grant <br /> <br />. <br />
