Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />May 9, 2023 <br />6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered 3 new water meters, sealed the meter, installed an encoder receiver <br />transmitter, and took curb stop ties. <br />• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for coliform bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the <br />Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) <br />• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met the MDH standards <br />o Submitted the MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br />• Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br />• On April 10 gates at the Lake Orono Dam were opened for the first time this season to <br />maintain the lake level. Within days all three gates were open to compensate for the <br />incoming water flow from the snow melt and precipitation. The flow peaked at 3,420 <br />cubic feet per second. Water department staff continue to check the lake level at the <br />dam and adjust the gates accordingly. <br />• Water Operator Sam France has submitted his resignation, he is leaving in good <br />standing with ERMU. His last day will be May 12. Ajob posting has been made to fill the <br />vacant position. <br />• Water main relocation work has started along Highway 169 at Jackson Avenue and Elk <br />Hills Drive for the Highway 169 Redefine project. <br />• Staff have been working with the contactor selected in preparation for the School View <br />neighborhood water main rehabilitation project. <br />• Installation of new water main for the Villas at Filmore development has started. Staff <br />have been working with the contractor on connections to the existing municipal water <br />system. <br />Page Iof2 <br />110 <br />
