Library Board Annual Report To: Elk River City Council From: Isaac Blaske; Elk River Library Board Chair Date: June 5, 2023 The purpose of the Elk River Public Library Board is to oversee the physical facility and grounds housing the Elk River Public Library and to promote the best possible use of all library resources to the entire community. As a team we are responsible for ensuring a safe and welcoming atmosphere, promoting the library, representing and advocating for residents, planning physical improvements, and connecting with community partners. In year since our last update, we have worked closely with the Great River Regional Library to reinforce a collaborative relationship with they city. From staying updated and providing feedback on their excellent programing we have also been striving for even more community engagement. In 2022 the library took part in the Elk River Farmers market and the board is excited to be partnering with Great River staff to staff a booth at Elk Riverfest this year. In terms of facility, the library itself tremendous asset to the community. Over the last year there have been smaller update such as painting, upholstery of chairs for patrons, and new chairs for the staff. In the longer term there will be need for flooring, but nothing is imminent. Overall, the Great River Regional Library team is a great partner for Elk River and together we provide an excellent service to the community.
