<br /> <br />Item 6.5. <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> <br />DATE: December I, 2005 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2006 Park Project and Acquisition Budget <br /> <br />Item <br /> <br />The Council is being requested to consider approval of the 2006 Parks Improvement <br />Projects budget. <br /> <br />Background <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission considered potential park projects and land <br />acquisitions at the October 12, 2005 Commission meeting. Staff presented the Commission <br />with a range of options. Projects were prioritized based on input from residents and <br />alignment with the goals of the park master plan. <br /> <br />A revised list was presented to the Commission at the November 9, 2005 Commission <br />meeting. The Parks and Recreation voted unanimously to recommend approval of the 2006 <br />Parks Capital Improvement Budget. The proposed budget for park projects and land <br />acquisitions in 2006 is $1,248,750 (attached). Approximately half of this budgeted amount is <br />for the development of the downtown park. <br /> <br />Funding source for these projects and acquisitions is the park dedication fund. The park <br />dedication fund has a current balance of $1,690,000. Estimated revenues for 2006 are <br />approximately $1,000,000. <br /> <br />Staff will provide a presentation detailing each project and acquisition at the December 5, <br />2005 City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />The Elk River Parks and Recreation Commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval of the <br />2006 Parks Capital Budget. <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />The Council is being requested to consider approval of the 2006 Parks Capital Budget. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />Park Improvement Project Budget <br />Map of acquisition and project locations <br />
