'�. DEPARTMEHT <br />� OF N€VENUE <br />Duties of the clerk — Local Boards <br />The town or city clerk plays an important role in the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization process. The following is a brief <br />list of the duties of the clerk pertaining to the local board meeting: <br />■ Work with the county assessor to establishthe meeting date(s) for the local board; <br />■ Publish and post notice of the meeting at least 10 days prior to the date of the (Minnesota Statutes, Section 274.01, <br />subdivision 1); <br />■ Ensure that a quorum will be present; <br />■ Provide a sign-in sheet for appellants; <br />■ Take minutes of the meeting as part ofthe town or city record; and <br />■ Return all necessary records to the county assessor in a timely manner. <br />In some jurisdictions, various duties of the clerk may be performed by the city or county assessor or the assessor's stafF. In <br />these instances, it is recommended that the clerk be aware of and monitor these duties to ensure they are completed <br />�� <br />20 <br />
