<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 21, 1966 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on <br />Feb 21, 1966. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Coles. Members present – Mayor Coles, <br />Robert Syrvig and Briggs. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Dreissig was present. There was discussion regarding a tanker for the Fire department. <br />The price would be about $3000.00. <br /> <br />Dreissig says most of the fire calls from outside the village come from Elk River Township with a <br />few from Otsego, Big Lake, Ramsey, Livonia and Isanti. <br /> <br />Abe Johnson of the Bank of Elk River was present. He gave the council information regarding all <br />the village policies. The total expense for insurance is about $5555.00 per year. <br /> <br />Les Derr attended the meeting. The matter of drainage was brought up. More water will have to be <br />taken care of on account of paving more streets. <br /> <br />The council agreed to take out a few trees at the Liquor Store which will give more parking area and <br />make plowing snow easier. <br /> <br />Les Derr says he needs a pick up truck and that the jeep could be repaired. <br /> <br />Liquor Store Manager Robert Reynolds was present. He plans to set up a system to keep the on and <br />off liquor sales separate. <br /> <br />He also needs a petty cash fund of about $3000.00 for cashing checks. The council agreed. <br /> <br />Mayor Coles says Herman Hohlen may apply for the position of police officer. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Syvig and seconded by Briggs to have the police car overhauled at an <br />estimated cost of $165.00. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />HA Briggs <br />Village Clerk <br /> <br />
