City Council Minutes <br />March 6, 2023 <br />Page 2 <br />Mr. Hecker presented the staff report. Representatives of The Bank of Elk River John Babcock, <br />Chairman, President, and CEO, Bill LaVigne, Chief Operating Officer, and Julia Schreifels, Vice <br />President of Marketing and Communications were at the meeting. <br />Moved by Councilmember Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Westgaard to adopt <br />Resolution 23-12 acknowledging contribution by The Bank of Elk River. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Moved by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Grupa to approve adoption of <br />the contract with The Bank of Elk River. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Mr. Hecker added that there are nine concerts this summer from June 15 to August 17. <br />6.2. Introduction of New Employee <br />Fire Chief Dickinson introduced Fire Administrative Assistant Ali Balabon. Council welcomed Ms. Balabon. <br />7. Public Hearings <br />There were no public hearings. <br />9. Council Liaison Updates <br />Councilmembers provided updates as outlined in the respective advisory board's minutes. <br />Mayor Dietz asked about some of the decor used at the former ice rink and when it would be hung at the <br />Furniture and Things Community Event Center. Councilmember Wagner will follow up on when they will <br />be hung. <br />Councilmember Westgaard asked if placer.ai data could be compiled for the hockey tournament recently <br />held at the Furniture and Things Community Event Center including where people are coming from and <br />where they are eating before and after games. <br />Councilmember Beyer added that the State VFW Invitational Bantam Hockey Tournament will be held <br />March 10-12, 2023, and he would be interested in seeing where people stay overnight for a multi -day <br />tournament. <br />Councilmember Wagner noted that digital billboards will be located on Highway 169 from May -October, <br />this year advertising Together Elk River, supporting the Northbound liquor store, and including Farmer's <br />Market and concert information. <br />Councilmember Wagner stated that the Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) approved a contract <br />with Veit to demolish the Elk River Meat building site around March 20, 2023.
