Request for Action To Item Number Ma Tor and Ci T Council 4.4 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent September 20, 2021 Amanda Erickson, Environmental Coordinator Item Description Reviewed by Parmer Commitment Letter: Conservation Brandon Wisner, En ineerin Pro�ect Mana er Parmers Legacy (CPL) Grant Application Reviewed by Cal Pormer, Cit T Administrator Action Requested Approve, by motion, the Parmer Commitment Letter for the CPL Grant Application Background/Discussion The City of Elk River works closely with the Sherburne Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to identify natural resource areas within the city to restore and protect. Over the last few years, a portion of shoreline within the William H. Houlton Conservation Area along the Mississippi River was identified as having significant erosion and soil loss. Through this parmership, the SWCD and city plan to apply for funding from the Conservation Parmership Legacy (CPL) Grant Program for this Houlton Conservation Area Streambank Protection project. This is a joint effort which will leverage pooled resources to restore and protect this sensitive area of public land. The city will be submitting a Parmer Commitment Letter along with the CPL Grant application. This letter commits staff time to the project as well as a required 10% grant match cash contribution of $31,000. The match will be funded by the Stormwater Management Fund. The application is due in mid-September, and we hope to hear if the application is accepted by the end of the year.
