<br />ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING <br />APRIL 5, 1971 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Earl Schulke the chairman. A representative for Marvin George. <br />He asked if there were any questions in relation to the annexation of the property to the village. <br />Some discussion followed but no action was taken. Next Ben Roker and Jerry Palmer appeared in <br />regard to Mrs. Walter Smit request to run a beauty shop in her home. Everett Specht and Franklin <br />both spoke their view in opposition to this business being allowed to take place in such area. A <br />motion was made that a letter be directed to the planning commission stating that the Elk River <br />Town Board is in opposition to Mrs. Smit operating a “beauty shop in her home. The motion was <br />seconded and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />Gary Santwire appeared to present a plan for the roads in his area. He has a plat of lots to be sold. A <br />motion be Earl seconded by Franklin that the plat be accepted. Motion carried. Next Dennis <br />Schelander met with the board he stated he thinks he will be working for Concrete Products starting <br />th <br />April 6 after this he will be on his own. The Board voted to pay his rent for April. Fred Brenteson <br />met with the Board and presented his bills. Gerry Moos came to the meeting to state his needs for <br />welfare. He is to apply for surplus food as soon as possible. He was granted a grocery allotment at <br />the store for the next 2 weeks the amount set at $35.00.
