��i <br />Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Chris Sumstad — Electric Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />January 10, 2023 <br />6.1g <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Installed six new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary line <br />once the customer requests service. <br />• Installed three phase primary underground wire and set a three phase transformer for <br />service at a new car wash in Otsego. <br />• Crews started the third section of the overhead rebuild along County Road 35. <br />• Joe Schmidt from Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) was here <br />December 28 and presented a year-end review of safety trainings. <br />• 1 attended the MMUA Technical & Operations conference held in St. Cloud, MN, <br />December 6-8. <br />• Staff worked on final inventory for 2022 the last week of December. Inventory accuracy <br />was once again very high which is outstanding especially given the fact that 2022 <br />involved moving all inventory over to the new field services building. <br />• Staff started the annual equipment and mapping field checks. This involves opening <br />boxes and checking equipment both visually and with infrared for problems, as well as <br />checking tags for mapping accuracy. Finding issues now, prevents outages later. A <br />portion of the system is checked on a rotational basis every year. <br />• Replaced a streetlight and pole that was struck by a vehicle at Twin Lakes Road and <br />173,d Avenue. <br />• Replaced a streetlight and pole that was struck at 171s' Lane and Olson Street. <br />• Crews have started performing annual maintenance and repairs of equipment including <br />excavators, cable plows, and the bore rig. <br />• Curt Wark and Alex Bernier attended transformer school hosted by MMUA in Marshall, <br />MN, December 13-16. <br />• A representative from the State of Minnesota was here December 20 and held a training <br />on de-escalation and workplace violence. <br />• Tanner Ellis' last day was December 12, 2022. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />110 <br />
