<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 27, 1919 <br /> <br />th <br />A special meeting of the Village Council was held on Saturday the 27 of December 1919 at the <br />Office of the Elk River Lumber Co. <br /> <br />Members Present – J.H. Virgin, President, Bert Can, Trustee, and William Norval, Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock p.m. Minutes of the last meeting duly read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />The clerk read a letter received from the Phelps Drake Co contractors in regard to ordering iron <br />pipe to complete the new extensions to the water work system. <br /> <br />They offered to supply the pipe at anytime before the first day of Jan 1920 at the price that the first <br />pipe cost for that after that date the price charged would be ten dollars ($10.00) per ton higher. <br /> <br />After discussing the matter the council passed the following resolution in regard to the same. <br /> <br />Resolved by the Village Council that they order from the contractors Phelps Drake and Co of <br />Minneapolis, Minn whatever main water pipe was required to complete the new extensions and also <br />two (20 hydrants one for the corner of the Village Park and one for the Fire house located on <br />Quincy Street. Also to supply whatever fittings were necessary. <br /> <br />It was moved and seconded that the clerk write the said contractors and order the pipe and other <br />material required without delay. The propritors of the Elk River garage gave notice to the council <br />that on and after the first day of December 1919 the rent for storage of the fire apparatus of the <br />Village would be twelve $12.00 per month instead of $6.00 the old rate. <br /> <br />The bill of the McCarthy Well Co was presented for payment the amount of said bill $1,192.12. <br /> <br />Motion by the President and seconded by Bert Can that the bill be allowed and warrant drawn to <br />th <br />pay the same. The warrant was dated Dec 24 and was duly forwarded by mail to St. Paul, Minn. <br /> <br />Memo, McCarthy Well Co St Paul to amt of bill was as follows. Drilling 150 feet of hole at $9.35 <br />$1402.50 <br />Less the 15% retained per contract 210.38 amt paid $1,192.12 <br /> <br />Copy of order given for pipe <br />225 feet of 4 inch main on Quincy St to Fire hall <br />405 feet of 4 inch main to cross track to connect on 6 in on Main Street <br />852 feet of 4 inch main on Line Street <br />1482 <br /> <br />1 hydrant for corner Village Park <br />1 hydrant for Fire hall Quincy St <br /> <br /> <br />
