<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 12, 1919 <br /> <br />A Special meeting of the village council was held at the Office of the Elk River Lumber Co on <br />th <br />Wednesday the 12 of Nov 1919. <br /> <br />Members Present – J.H. Virgin, President, Bert Can, Trustee, and William Norval, Clerk <br /> <br />Called to order at 8 p.m. the minutes of last meeting were duly read and approved by the council. <br /> <br />Mr. R.E. Dare undertaker of Elk River Minn presented to the Council his bill for burial expenses of <br />Nelson Matineau amounting to the sum of fifty six dollars ($56.00) the deceased was the son of Mrs. <br />Geo Martineau a poor person and partly dependent on the Village for support. After considering the <br />matter it was moved seconded and carried that the bill of R.E. Dare amounting to $56.00 be allowed <br />and a warrant be issued for payment of the same. And the amt of said bill be charged to the Village <br />poor fund. The clerk was instructed to draw a warrant for the sum of $200.00 payable to the <br />treasurer of the Sherburne Co Fair Association, this sum having been allowed by the Village Council <br />th <br />at it’s meeting held on the 8 day of July 1919, being donation to said association for the year 1919. <br /> <br />The following bills were duly presented and allowed <br /> <br />1816 Elk River garage (Oct) storage fire app $6.00 <br />1817 ___ do___ Power and L Co Repairs Oct 5.75 <br />1818 Sherburne Co Star News Pub Notices and Printing 15.90 <br />1819 Davis Bros mdse for service flag .73 <br />1820 George Pajeau work on sewer 2.10 <br />1821 P.M. Morneau and Co supplies Vill seals 2.90 <br />1822 John H Virgin work on seals $2.00 $3.00 <br />1823 William Giff Marshall extra work and cash pd 5.00 <br />1824 Lee Slaback “ on Fairgrounds 15.00 <br />1825 J.T. Plante goods to Mrs. Martineau Oct 23.25 <br />1826 Sherburne Co Star News, printing records 24.00 <br />1827 Elk River Lumber Co Lumber 31.65 <br />1828 R.E. Dare undertaking Bill Martineau boy 56.00 <br />1829 C.A. Morse Weighmaster bal due on salary 92.00 <br />1830 Sherburne Co fair association annual 1919 200.00 <br />1831 L.A. Herrick purchase price for lot on Princeton St 200.00 <br />$683.28 <br /> <br />Deed from the Houlton Investment Co for the parcel of land 60x60 feet located on Quincy St <br />donated for the Village of Elk River for the purpose of building the fire or engine house to be used <br />for the storage of the fire apparatus as well as one room to be used as the Village lock up was duly <br />presented and the same was accepted by the council and ordered filed with the clerk and that he <br />have the same recorded in the register of deeds office. <br /> <br />Deed from L.A. Henick of Elk River to the Village of Elk River for a parcel of land on Princeton <br />street 100 x 100 feet to be used for the location of the Artesien Well as wll as the tower and tank to <br /> <br />
