<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 4, 1928 <br /> <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Monday, <br />November 4, 1928 <br /> <br />Present – Thos E. Beck, Pres., Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />The question of purchasing cells for the new jail was discussed the estimated cost of one double cell <br />with two bunks in each cell for the men and a single cell with two bunds F.O.B. Elk River was <br />708.00. Moved and declared carried that we purchase cells. <br /> <br />Moved and declared carried that we also purchase a vault door for the new vault. <br /> <br />The president and clerk were instructed to look after the insurance for the new hall immediately. On <br />the recommendation of the fire chief a motion was made and declared carried that we purchase a <br />pump to pump out the hydrants to keep from freezing same to cost 16.50. At the request of the <br />League of Minnesota Municipalities the following resolutions were adopted. <br /> <br />Resolution – Be it resolved that the council of the village of Elk River Minnesota approve legislation <br />advocated by the League of Minnesota Municipalities which would amend the present zoning law <br />applying to first class cities in order to permit all other cities and villages to pass zoning ordinances. <br /> <br />Resolution – Be it resolved that the council of the village of Elk River, Minn approves legislation <br />advocated by the League of Minnesota Municipalities to permit all cities and Village to pass <br />ordinances creating planning commissions. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to forward resolutions to the League. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed. <br />Miller Davis ballot box and blanks for J.P. Office 26.37 <br />Mrs. E. Nelson goods for Fred Shultz (dependent) 15.42 <br />F.W. Nickerson surveying street 12.50 <br />W.H. Clements street work 50.10 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co repairs on lights 6.60 <br />Dare Furniture Co goods for fire engine 1.15 <br />Geo Beck labor at village hall 7.50 <br />Willard Nelson labor at village hall 3.90 <br /> <br />Clerk was authorized to pay all expenses of election according to wages fixed by law. <br /> <br />In the case of Mrs. Decker whereas heretofore the village has been paying her rent only, and <br />furnishing fuel she requests that we pay her $15.00 per month and she would pay her own rent. <br /> <br /> <br />
