<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 7, 1928 <br /> <br />The Regular Meting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Monday, May 7, 1928. <br /> <br />Present – Thos E. Beck, President, Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees. W.F. <br />Chadbourne, Clerk <br /> <br />Visitors – Mrs. Fred Greupner, Miss Susan Dare and Mr. Charles Bade <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />The Community Club represented by Mrs. Fred Greupner and Miss Susan Dare requested that the <br />Council contribute the sum of $25.00 towards the upkeep of the park at or near the M.E. Church. <br /> <br />On motion their request was granted and $25.00 was taken from the General Fund for that purpose. <br /> <br />Mr. Charles Bade called the attention of the council in regard to the inadequate street lighting on <br />Princeton Street and asked the Council to take notice of the same with a view of locating another <br />street light. The Council did visit the place named and decided to install another light. <br /> <br />In regard to placing a culvert across the street at upper town near Mr. Mouldenhauers place, Mr. <br />Clements, Street Commissioner was authorized to use his judgement as to the kind of tiling to put <br />in. <br /> <br />In the question of repairing Main Street, after some discussion in regard to the manner of operation <br />it was finally decided to have the Street Commissioner Clements visit Hopkins and ascertain the cost <br />of re-surfacing the whole street and report to the Council at once. <br /> <br />It was brought before the Council that Mr. Fred Shultz was in needy circumstances and needed <br />immediate help. On motion Geo Cornelius was instructed to find out in regard to it and give him <br />what present need required. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: <br />Star News printing financial statement and other printing 114.95 <br />Geo E. Page M.D. medical attendance Fred Shultz 14.75 <br />Mrs. L.L. Humphrey nurse attendance Fred Shultz 36.00 <br />Geo Waterfield street work 47.95 <br />W.H. Clements street work 36.95 <br />First Nat. Bank premium on Treas. Bond 25.00 <br />The Barrett Co. 6 bbls. Tarvia 69.30 <br />Davis Bros goods for Mr. Shultz 2.73 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co repairs on street lights 24.80 <br />E.R. Blacksmith Shop repairs fire engine 1.50 <br />Charles Roggatz coal at fire barn 4.70 <br />H.R. Caley Co goods at water tank 4.60 <br />Raymond Bros. freight on tarvia 6.60 <br /> <br />
