<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 9, 1920 <br /> <br />th <br />Regular meeting of the Village Council held in the office of the Elk River Lumber Co on Nov 9 <br />1920. <br /> <br />Members present J.H. Virgin, President, D.W. Longfellow, Trustee, Bert Carr, Trustee, M.P. <br />Williams, Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order at 8:15 p.m. by the president. <br /> <br />Minutes of the last meeting was read and approved. <br /> <br />Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and seconded by Bert Carr that the following bills be allowed and <br />warrants be issued for same. <br />Motion accepted and passed by the council. <br /> <br />1987 Henry Arnold labor on village sewer 36.00 <br />1988 H. Madson labor putting pole in hose cart 1.50 <br />1999 Wm Giff salary as village sheriff for Oct 75.00 <br />2000 Elk River Power and Light Co street light for Oct 119.00 <br />2001 Elk River Power and Light Co light for village scales 1.50 <br />2002 Elk River Power and Light Co power for motor pump 22.50 <br />2003 Walter Booth and Son stationary 2.22 <br />Total warrants 523.51 <br /> <br />The clerk read a letter to the council which was rec’d by him from the Elk River fire department <br />regarding their disbanding if the council did not comply with their request on buying additional <br />equipment for the department namely a hose truck motor driver and an electric syren \[sic\]. This <br />matter was laid on the table and a discussion followed resulting in a decision that it would be <br />considered and looked into but it also was decided that the village is not financially able at present <br />and could not meet with the fire department request as stated. <br /> <br />Motion made and seconded that a letter be written in answer to the fire department request which <br />was done. <br /> <br />No further business.
