<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 17, 1920 <br /> <br />Special meeting of the Village Council held in the offices of the Elk River Lumber Co on Aug 17, <br />1920. <br /> <br />Members present J.H. Virgin, President, Bert Carr, Trustee, Chas Selahuer, Trustee, D.W. <br />Longfellow, Trustee, M.P. Williams, Clerk <br /> <br />J.H. Virgin brought before the council the matter regarding putting some seats and tables down on <br />Hastings addition on the point to be usable as picnic grounds by the village. <br /> <br />Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and seconded by J.H. Virgin Pres that lumber be bought to build <br />6 tables 8 ft long 12 benches 8 ft long and two outhouses also pump to be placed down on the <br />Hastings addition on the point between the Elk and Mississippi Rivers to be used as public picnic <br />grounds. Motion accepted and passed by council. <br /> <br />Motion made by J.H. Virgin that a police cap be bought for Wm Giff. Motion seconded by D.W. <br />Longfellow and accepted by the Council. <br /> <br />The Clerk was called upon to read the traffic ordinance which was recently drawn up for <br />consideration and approval. <br /> <br />th <br />Motion made by Chas Selhauer and seconded by Bert Carr that streetlights be installed on 6 St and <br />Mill St. and on Minnesota on corner of Outlook Ave. <br /> <br />Motion passed and accepted by the Council. <br /> <br />Motion made by D.W. Longfellow and seconded by J.H. Virgin that Warrant # 1947 be cancelled <br />which was made out to W.S. Nolt Co for $500.00. A difference which the village was to pay W.S. <br />Nolt Co in purchase of a new fire engineer and truck after having made an investigation of the <br />engine it was found advisable not to make the trade or purchase of the truck. <br /> <br />Said motion was accepted and passed by council. <br /> <br />No more business.
