Request for Action To Item Number Economic Development Authority 7.1 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by General Business November 21, 2022 Joshua Mollan, Economic Development Specialist Item Description Reviewed by Beautification Award Recommendation Brent O’Neil, Economic Development Director Reviewed by Cal Portner, City Administrator Action Requested Approve, by motion, the recommendation from the Beautification Committee for the Beautification Award winner. Background/Discussion The Beautification Committee marketed and accepted applications from May through September for the Beautification Award and received and reviewed three applications. Of the three, one was determined to be ineligible due to business operation requirements of the award program. The other two were judged by the committee and based on those scores, the committee recommends Three Rivers Montessori, for their efforts to enhance the property at 17267 Yale St NW. They completed interior and exterior renovations and additions converting a bank into a Montessori elementary school. th If approved, we will invite Three Rivers Montessori to be recognized and accept the award at the December 19 EDA meeting. Financial Impact N/A Mission/Policy/Goal The City Beautification Award recognizes business owners whose efforts to clean, repair, improve and enhance the overall aesthetics of either the interior or exterior of the business, property and/or space thereby maintaining the beauty of their neighborhood and surroundings. It is presented to encourage community improvements, enhance our city’s image and economic vitality.
