Request for Action To Item Number Mayor and City Council 4.8 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent November 21, 2022 Lori Stich, Assistant Finance Director Item Description Reviewed by Resolutions Levying Special Assessments for Lori Ziemer, Finance Director Unpaid Garbage, Sewer, and Stormwater Utility Reviewed by Services Cal Portner, City Administrator Action Requested Adopt, by motion, resolutions levying special assessments for the following:  Resolution Levying Assessment for Unpaid Garbage Services  Resolution Levying Assessment for Unpaid Sewer Utility Services  Resolution Levying Assessment for Unpaid Stormwater Utility Fees Background/Discussion Section 58-38 of the city ordinance authorizes the city to levy an assessment against property for unpaid garbage collection charges as of September 1. Section 78-191 authorizes the city to levy an assessment against property for unpaid sewer charges as of September 30. Section 78-419 authorizes the city to levy an assessment against property for unpaid stormwater utility fees. All property owners who had delinquent utility fees have received notice informing them that they would be assessed unless the account was brought current. The delinquent utility assessment lists are attached: Garbage - $2,124.94; Sewer - $1,421.17; Stormwater - $282.17. The assessment total for 2022 is $3,828.28 and the total in 2021 was $4,026.29.
