<br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.13 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent November 21, 2022 Tim Sevcik, Street and Park Superintendent <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />2023 Equipment Replacement Fund Purchases Justin Femrite, Public Works Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the 2023 Parks Maintenance Division Equipment Replacement Fund purchases of a John <br />Deere 5095 tractor with attachments. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The Parks Maintenance Division’s current 2009 John Deere 5095 tractor is approved for replacement in the 2023 <br />Fleet Capital Replacement Fund Budget. Our vendors anticipate cost increases of up to 10 percent to occur after <br />the first of the year on the tractor and needed attachments. In order to take advantage of current pricing staff <br />recommends ordering this tractor under the current state contract. Receipt and payment of the tractor is <br />anticipated in July of 2023. <br /> <br />The 5095 tractor is a versatile piece of equipment with the Park Maintenance Divisions fleet. It is utilized for <br />seeding, fertilizing, herbicide application, rough mowing, and plowing trails and parking lots. It also serves as a <br />secondary piece of mowing equipment for the for roadside mowing Streets Division. <br /> <br />In addition to the replacement of the tractor, staff recommends replacing the boom sprayer unit, the snowplow, <br />and the flail mower which are over 20 years old and are failing and the flail mower is no longer operational. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />$96,098.42 from the 2023 Fleet Capital Replacement Fund budget which is properly funded and planned for this <br />purchase. <br /> <br />Mission/Policy/Goal <br />Replacement of this equipment will help to ensure a sustainable city fleet in order to continue to provide <br />exceptional service in the areas of streets, parks, and building maintenance. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> Minnesota Equipment, Inc.
