��i <br />Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />November 8, 2022 <br />6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered seven new water meters, sealed the meter, installed an encoder receiver <br />transmitter, and took curb stop ties. <br />• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 21 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Water department staff have been working with MnDOT's contactor to disconnect and <br />remove abandoned water main at Highway 169 and School Street. New water main was <br />installed in 2021 to take the place of the abandoned water main that is being removed. <br />• The water department completed the annual inspection of the Lake Orono Dam on <br />October 5. The dam seems to be in satisfactory condition. The cracked gearbox housing <br />for gate #1 has been repaired and the gate is operational again. <br />• With the help of Brenteson Companies we replaced a fire hydrant on 1771" Court in Elk <br />River that developed a leak underground. <br />• As most water meters in the distribution system are approaching the end of their useful <br />life cycle there has been an increasing number that have stopped recording water usage <br />and have needed replacement. <br />• Water department staff have been performing testing and inspections for new water <br />main and water service connections at Miske Meadows 81" addition, Evergreen <br />Townhomes, apartments at the old Saxon Auto property, and Caribou Coffee. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• October 2022 Pumping by Well <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />165 <br />
