i
Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:
FROM:
ERMU Commission
Mike Tietz —Technical Services Superintendent
MEETING DATE:
AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
November 8, 2022
6.1i
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• In October, the locators processed 430 locate tickets. These consisted of 2 emergency
tickets, 361 normal tickets, 42 updated tickets, 5 cancellations, 10 meets, 3 non -
excavation, 5 corrections, and 2 boundary surveys. This resulted in a 13.1% decrease in
tickets from the previous month and an 18.4% decrease from the prior October.
• Electrical technicians completed 227 service order tasks, updated the power bill,
addressed customer meter issues and any off-peak concerns.
• On October 26, staff ran generators #1 & #2 without incident. Engines #3 & #4 were
turned over but not ran. The repair of the replacement exhaust bellow for Engine #4 has
been completed and we are expecting it to be shipped back to us in the next week or so.
• Mapping department continues to work on GIS updates, GPSing splices, and assets. We
had to postpone our GIS server upgrade in October after it was determined that we did
not have enough space on our server to complete the installation. After discussion, it
was decided that we need create a new server to allow us to upgrade from version
10.7.1 to 10.9.1. The mapping and IT/OT technicians along with GRE staff and myself
have discussed this upgrade and it will be installed on November 10.
• The substation apparatus technician completed the load tap changer maintenance on
Station 14, Bank 3 along with recloser testing on Bank 4 and the relay panels for both
banks have been checked out in SCADA. The recloser control on feeder #42 has been
replaced. We encountered a problem with the bus disconnect switch on Station 14,
Bank 3 that prevented us from completing our testing of the reclosers on this bank. We
will need to further investigate what is causing the problem on the switch. The regulator
bank on Highway 10 has been replaced with our spare set of regulators. The old ones
will be sent in for refurbishment and returned to inventory as our spare set.
164
