i
Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:
FROM:
ERMU Commission
Chris Sumstad — Electric Superintendent
MEETING DATE:
AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
November 8, 2022
6.1h
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Installed 21 new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary line
once the customer requests service.
• Installed a new three phase service on Gateway Road located on the southeast side of
Elk River for a new drywall business.
• Changed out three voltage regulators on Highway 10 near Broadway Pizza. The three
that came down will be sent away for reconditioning and used as spares.
• Lineworkers and the substation technician changed out the recloser controller on feeder
42 coming out of Station 14 Bank 4.
• With the good weather and well behaved rodents, we only recorded two outages for
the month of October.
• October was fairly active with customers upgrading their services or adding additional
ones. The work for the line crews in these cases varies from a power disconnect to
installing new or bigger electric components.
• Finished the rejected pole changeouts that Mi Tech Services identified during their
testing.
• Crews continue other maintenance on both underground and overhead infrastructure
that need attention. We are hoping for a shipment of single phase transformers soon to
perform some needed transformer changeouts.
• Joe Schmidt from Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) was here October
27 and 28 to present Office Safety and Fire Hazard training.
• Installed a transformer and new service for a Northern Natural Gas booster station.
• Continued to collect data for the GIS mapping transition.
• Curt Wark, Blaine Snyder, and Alex Paschall attended Tree Trimming School hosted by
MMUA in Brainerd October 18-20.
163
