i
Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:
FROM:
ERMU Commission
Chris Kerzman — Engineering Manager
MEETING DATE:
AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
November 8, 2022
5.5
SUBJECT:
Field Services Facility Expansion Project Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
RJM Construction completed paving the wear course on October 29, and completed striping of
the employee and vendor parking lot. Punch lists have been issued to RJM for the interior of
the building, and external punch list inspection for the north portion of site was completed on
November 4. The contractors are finishing up installation and controls for the heating system
for the garage bays, and ERMU will relocate our vehicles once heat is operational.
RJM has contracted a structural engineer to help with evaluation of the floor slab. They
currently have core drilling scheduled to verify the scan report at select areas throughout the
building. ERMU staff expects the core drilling will be completed before the commission meeting
and continues to work with RJM to understand the condition of the floor and future
maintenance concerns due to the thickness and rebar placement concerns.
The railings at the front of the building are temporary solutions and will be replaced, there have
been supply issues from the subcontractor supplying them that RJM continues to work through.
We are expecting that permanent railings will arrive in 4-6 weeks and will schedule
replacement with RJM.
RJM was granted a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy for the building on October 28, we are
working with RJM to schedule completion of some of the more impactful punch list items prior
to moving staff into the upper level.
