In part this is due to heavy school use
of City facilities. One issue with this level of programming is that when late winters and rainouts, it becomes tough to make up
postponed games.
The two lighted 90’ fi elds at YAC are better than many surrounding communities, especially when compared to other secondary
fi elds (Hales is the primary).
RECOMMENDATIONS
• Resolve the issues surrounding Hales Field. Consider a partnership with the School District similar to the development of
softball fi elds at Lion John Wiecht Park to improve the facility. The school is already using signifi cant time on City fi elds.
• Develop a dedicated 75’ baseball fi eld with grass infi eld and appropriate outfi eld dimensions. This could be an upgrade to the
large ballfi eld at Oak Knoll (with the addition of lights) or be located as part of a future YAC expansion.
• Continue to maintain YAC 5 & 6 as high quality 90’ basepath fi elds.
• If additional demand exists beyond current use for weekday fi elds, particularly in May and June, consider doubling use by
having an early session and later session. This is more feasible as school users typically do not go very late unless there are
games.
• Continue to maintain additional fi elds that can fl ex in order to accommodate weather and tournament induced peaks in
demand.
Preferred 25% fi eld rest and recovery
Preferred 25% fi eld rest and recovery
