UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Tom Sagstetter – Conservation & Key Accounts Manager <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />October 11, 20226.1e <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> In the last 30 days, the level two electric vehicle (EV) charger located downtown had 29 <br />sessions and provided customers with 245 kWh. The level two charger located in front <br />of the ERMU officehad 12 sessions and provided customers with 187kWh. The DC fast <br />charger at the Coborn’s fuel station needsa modem upgrade toallow for connection to <br />the network. The new modem has been ordered and should arrive in fourto eight <br />weeks. Ultimately staff is exploring options for the replacement of the DC fast chargeras <br />it will no longer be supported by ChargePoint early next year. <br /> Staff is soliciting bids from vendors for two EV chargers. Staff is also exploring the option <br />of selling all EV charging stations to a third party that will own and operate them going <br />forward. <br /> Currently there are fourteen active residential solar PV projects under review or <br />construction in the ERMU service territory. Staff continues to collaborate with <br />customers interested in a solar installation on a case-by-case basis. <br /> Staff continues to discuss potential future options for the energy generation facility at <br />the Elk River landfill. All contracts end as of October 31, 2022. <br /> The National Drive Electric Week event at the Elk River Farmers Market was an <br />enormous success. ERMU staff and the Energy City Commission handed out 63 <br />marketing bags that contained information on EVs, charging, and the Clean Energy <br />Choice program. We spoke with many more interested community members that asked <br />questions and took test drives. Cornerstone Auto Group completed fourteen test drives, <br />12 of which were in the Ford Lighting and two in the Jeep Wrangler 4XE. In addition to <br />the ERMU and Cornerstone vehicles, there were 10 EV enthusiasts that brought their <br />personal vehicles. Models in attendance included multiple Teslas, two VW ID4s, a Jaguar <br />I Pace, and a Ford Mustang Mach E. There was also a surprising number of questions on <br />Sparky the City’s electric bike to round out the evening. <br /> Staff continues to work with Tri-CAP and the Elk River HRA on a joint program to provide <br />energy efficiency and safety loans/grants to Elk River property owners in the urban <br />services area. <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />98 <br /> <br />
