______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />FROM: <br />Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />August 9, 2022 <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered eight new water meters, sealed the meter, installed an encoder receiver <br />transmitter, and took curb stop ties. <br />• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 21 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br />• Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br />• A new well pump and motor have been installed for well #9 to replace the motor that <br />had failed there. A photo from the installation process is attached. <br />• All 30 of the required lead and copper samples have now been collected and submitted <br />to the MDH for testing. <br />• With the help of IT staff, a vulnerability scan was conducted on the water system <br />supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) network to assess the security of the <br />system against cyber attacks. There were a few items identified in the scan that can be <br />improved, otherwise the findings were that the network is secure. <br />• Water department staff performed temporary water main shutdowns so that water <br />services for the former KFC and Salvation Army buildings could be properly <br />disconnected before demolition. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• July 2022 Pumping by Well <br />• Photo – Well #9 Pump and Motor Installation <br /> <br />112
