HIGHWAY 10 CORRIDOR STUDY - FINAL REPORT
Table 1. Access Spacing Guidelines
Analysis of current access spacing found that most intersections within the study area are non-
compliant with the current guidelines for both rural and urban/urbanizing facility types (see TabieZ.
Additionally, the amount, type, and sporadic location of the existing access could be a contributing
factor to any potential safety and congestion issues experienced along the corridor.
Table 2. However, the use of multimodal systems adjacent to the
corridor interact directly with the operations of Highway 10 and will likely shape future development
in the area. Within a quarter mile of the corridor is the Elk River Northstar Train Station, which
connects Elk River to downtown Minneapolis (see Figure 7). This rail line runs parallel to Highway 10
within the study area. Although relatively little pedestrian and bicycle use occurs directly along
Highway 10, there are nearby pedestrian facilities to consider. Several trails exist within one mile of
Highway 10, connecting residents to local parks, residential communities, historic properties, and
the waterfront. Two of these trails connect to roads that directly intersect Highway 10, and a trail to
the southeast - just outside the study area - runs immediately adjacent to the roadway.
a GHH'4Y
RRIOOR
