Project Staffing <br /> <br />Audience <br />Northstar story on the State bonding bill in the Anoka <br />County Newsletter <br />Update on Project included in the Fridley Newsletter that <br />was sent out to households in the city <br />Elk River Chamber of Commerce Transportation <br />Luncheon <br />Minnesota State Fair (Over one million in attendance) <br /> <br />NCDA Board Meeting, Anoka <br /> <br />Metro Transit has made their selection for the vacant Deputy Director of Design <br />position within the Northstar Project Office. Formerly Metro Transit's Engineering <br />& Facilities Director, Rich Rovang was selected as Assistant General Manager of <br />Transit Systems Development and will lead the design and construction of the <br />Northstar Corridor Rail Project. <br /> <br />His responsibilities will include managing the design and construction of all new <br />major transit projects, including light rail, commuter rail and bus rapid <br />transitways. <br /> <br />Rovang has worked for the Metropolitan Council since 1990, first as an Area <br />Engineer then as Assistant Director of Construction in the Environmental <br />Services division. He joined Metro Transit in 1999 as Director, Engineering and <br />Facilities to oversee planning, design and construction of transit facilities, <br />including leading the project to design and build the East Metro Transit Facility. <br /> <br />Rovang holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Iowa State University and <br />a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. <br /> <br />XV. Next Steps <br /> <br />Project staff will work with FT A to revise material and provide information as <br />needed for FT A to change the project's rating from "Not Recommended" to <br />"Recommended" and to approve entry into the final design phase.
