Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Page 2 <br />May 9, 2022 <br />----------------------------- <br /> <br />Senior Activity Center priorities included display cases in hallway, seasonal <br />decorations, mural of old senior center/old Elk River themes, signage in the hallway <br />to identify the space. Follow up will be providing examples that can have budget <br />numbers put to them. <br /> <br />Met next with Elk River Figure Skating Club, High School Hockey reps and Youth <br />Hockey reps. After reviewing the guidelines that HGA put together, their requests <br />included getting trophies into the trophy cases, getting banners hung in both rinks, <br />information cases where they can display upcoming events, photos of <br />teams/individuals on teams, Hockey Day MN commemorative, state champion <br />banners and commemoration to professional athletes. Toured facility to discuss <br />unique spaces. Groups were left with a to do list to have some thoughts/examples of <br />what they would like everything to look like so that budget numbers could be put to <br />them. <br /> <br />Outside of this meeting, task force has met on its own to discuss what they feel the <br />priorities are, these include base graphics of river as it flows through Elk River, <br />wayfinding, getting with hockey groups on banners, getting with senior group for <br />display areas and what to do with the grand staircase wall. No budget to do anything, <br />but at this point, just gathering ideas. <br /> <br /> 6.2 FTCenter Potential Academy Venue/Tenant <br /> <br />FTCenter has been approached by Nate and Brittany Prosser to potentially open an <br />academy that would utilize the facility for the sports portion and possibly the <br />classroom portions as well. Could include 2-4 hours of ice during the day, as well as <br />2-4 hours of turf during the day. Primary goal would be to have everything (sports <br />and academics) in one facility. Modeled after Breakaway Academy in the Chaska <br />Community Center. <br /> <br /> <br />7. Action Items <br /> <br />7.1 Reconsider Senior Activity Center Entrance Action of December 2, 2021. <br />Presentation by Senior Activity Center Member Linda Lee. <br /> <br />Motion made by Chair Williams and seconded by Vice Chair Peterson to <br />reaffirm previous decision to not approve the request to utilize the fire door as <br />an entry into the Senior Center. Motion carried 8-0 <br /> <br />7.2 Consider details of housing Junior Hockey Team beginning Fall 2022. <br />Chair Williams has asked Facility Superintendent Tim Dalton to put together budget <br />numbers from 2020 moving forward to give the Commission an idea of the impact <br />COVID had on the facility. <br /> <br />Motion made by Chair Williams and seconded by Vice Chair Peterson to <br />affirm the City Council’s decision to commit for a basic agreement to
