Staff re\Tie\ved other options and concluded tllat the <br />most economical and functional structure \vould be a fabric CO\Tered roof \vitll concrete <br />salt/ sand retaining \valls. T\vo companies submitted the follo\ving bids for a fabric covered <br />salt/ sand storage building on i\ugust 12, 2005: <br /> <br />Greystone Construction <br /> <br />Base Bid <br />$ 90,435 <br /> <br />Alternate 1 <br />Building \v / T -panels <br />$137,725 <br /> <br />Alternate 2 <br />Building \v / Cast in Place \'V'alls <br />$159,980 <br /> <br />Ebert Construction <br /> <br />122,900 <br /> <br />168,500 <br /> <br />230,900 <br /> <br />Staff recommends accepting tlle Greystone Construction bid for "Alternate 2" \vhich <br />includes dle cast in place foundation and \vall system for tile salt/ sand retention. TIle T- <br />panels are $22,255 less expensiv-e, but also pro\ride 180/0 less storage area. The cast in place <br />\valls \vill pro,ride more protection for dle fabric from ground le,Tel damage. The building <br />\vill be 100 feet long, 80 feet \vide \vith the poured concrete \vall of 10 feet and the arcll <br />lleight of 35 feet for a total of 45 feet, \vlucll is allo\ved by ordinance in tills zone. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends tllat Council appro\Te the bid froin Greystone Constluction for the 80' by <br />108' fabric cO\Tered salt/ sand storage building including "i\lternate 2" for the cast in place <br />concrete \valls for a total cost of$159,980. <br />
