COMMISSIONER DILLON SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. The goals of the Comprehensive Plan are updated every 6 to 8 years. <br />The City of Elk River Comprehensive Plan was last updated in 1988. The Plan is <br />used by the Planning Commission, as well as the staff, as a significant tool in <br />reviewing planning and development requests. <br /> <br />Commissioner Minton explained how the steps involved in completing the update <br />of the Comprehensive Plan by the Steering Committee (see attached Exhibit A). <br />He explained how the members of the committee were chosen to represent the <br />various committees, boards and groups throughout the City (see attached Exhibit <br />B). Commissioner Minton expressed his thanks to the committee for their work, the <br />citizens who regularly attended the Steering Committee meetings, and to staff. <br /> <br />Chair Kuester explained that the specific transportation plan and the park plan <br />would not be considered at this meeting. These two topics will receive individual <br />attention at meetings to be held in December or January. <br /> <br />Chair Kuester noted the Planning Commission has received the following <br />correspondence related to this publiC hearing: <br /> <br />1) Letter from business and commercial property owners on east Highway 10, <br />
