UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Theresa Slominski –General Manager <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />March8, 2022 6.1a <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> TheBoard of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) met on <br />February 22, at Chaska City Hall in Chaska, Minnesota and via videoconference. Both <br />Commissioner Mary Stewart and I were in attendancevia videoconference. A public <br />summary of the meeting follows: <br />o The Board reviewed the Agency’s financial and operating performance for <br />January 2022. <br />o The Board discussed COVID-19 and its effects on supply chains and labor <br />markets. <br />o The Board engaged in a long-term planning session on solar investment. <br />o The Board discussed the Agency’s energy education programs for academic year <br />th <br /> graders and a high <br />2021-2022, which include an elementary program for 4 <br />school program. Virtual program offerings are being provided to schools this <br />year because of the pandemic. <br />o There was an increase of 4 customers participating in MMPA’s residential Clean <br />Energy Choice program from December to January. Customer penetration of the <br />program for residential customers remains at 3.8%. <br /> <br /> I attended the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Legislative Rally in <br />Washington, D.C., February 28 through March 2. Monday consisted of preconference <br />sessions, and I attended the presentation on climate change. Tuesday was the <br />Legislative Resolutions session for voting on APPA’s legislative focus, and Wednesday <br />was focused on meetings with legislators at the Capitol.
