Lincoln Elementary School Improvements <br />Description of Project Narrative <br />Detailed description / scope of project. <br />The proposed project includes site improvements, major interior renovations, and a small addition. <br />Site improvements include expanding the west parking lot further to north to increase parking (see quantities below). <br />The entry to the west parking lot is being relocated further to the north to increase queuing depth for personal vehicle <br />on the building site. The existing west, south, and east parking lots will be resurfaced, but retain their footprint and <br />circulation patterns. Sidewalks will be expanded to coincide with the expanded west parking lot. Other areas of <br />pedestrian circulation will be improved as required. <br />Interior renovations will include remodeling of specialist settings (media center, special education suite, admin and <br />student support suites), long-term facilities maintenance improvements (replacement of finishes, casework, <br />doors/hardware, ceilings), and major mechanical and electrical system improvements. Mechanical system currently <br />includes rooftop units and ductwork, which will be replaced with interior air handling units. <br />Most, if not all, single and multi-user toilet rooms that do not meet accessibility requirements are scheduled to for <br />remodeling. <br />Small addition (approx. 1,000sf) is required to accommodate the relocated admin suite and associated program needs. <br />The existing northwest entrance will be renovated to function as the primary secure entrance. <br /> <br />Hours of Operation <br />Hours of operation will be unchanged. Typical school hours 9:00am – 3:45pm. <br /> <br />Number of Employees <br />Approximately 90 staff, including part-time para-professionals. <br /> <br />Number of parking stalls, existing and additional <br />Existing: 81 at west lot, 112 at east lot (shared with Parker Elementary School) = 193 total <br />Proposed: 103 at west lot, 112 at east lot (shared with Parker Elementary School) = 215 total <br /> <br />Is there proposed screening of the site? <br />No new screening is proposed as part of the project. <br /> <br />Proposed building materials <br />Proposed building finish materials are primarily brick to match existing/adjacent colors and patterns. At the new main <br />entry, a portion of the existing building is proposed to receive a bump-up (approx. 7’ higher than adjacent/existing roof <br />parapets. This bump-up, and a new linear canopy are scheduled to receive aluminum composite rainscreen panels. <br />Signage – (at time of installation, a separate permit is required for each sign) <br />Signage for the project includes new dimensional letter signage stating the school name and address, to be mounted to <br />the building. A new, digital monument sign is proposed to be located at the southwest corner of the west parking lot. <br />The District is exploring options for the sign (size, digital display options, etc.). The new sign will confirm to ordinances <br />and requirements. <br /> <br />Is there outdoor storage? <br />No outdoor storage is proposed as part of the project. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Legal Description of the Property <br />Lot 3, Block 1, INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 728, according to the recorded plat thereof, Sherburne County, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br /> <br />
