<br /> Energy City Commission <br /> <br /> <br />Responsibilities <br /> Promotes the city as a hub of energy technology, energy manufacturing, energy <br />demonstrations, recycling, use of green products, and education. <br /> Aids, creates, promotes, endorses, sponsors, and facilitates energy and environmentally <br />sustainable initiatives and demonstrations. <br /> Work for the continuing education of the public with respect to energy technology, energy <br />manufacturing, sustainable demonstrations, recycling, use of green products, and the <br />adoption of sustainable living practices. <br /> <br /> <br />Membership <br />The Energy City Commission shall consist of up to eleven members consisting of: <br />1. One representative from the City Council/Economic Development Authority. <br />2. One representative from the Elk River Municipal Utilities. <br />3. Up to seven representatives from: <br /> Energy related businesses (this can include consultants, manufacturers, <br />technology, environmental, energy producers, and/or energy providers). <br /> Commercial or residential customers (representatives must receive at least one <br />city service – water, sewer, trash collection, or electric delivery), or <br /> Nonprofit organizations (this can include schools, youth organizations or <br />business organizations as determined by the City Council.) <br />4. One representative designated by a school located in Elk River. <br />5. One representative from the Elk River Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />Commissioners are appointed by the City Council for three-year terms. Residency is not a <br />requirement. <br /> <br /> <br />Meetings <br />The Energy City Commission meets on the third Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. in the months of February, <br />May, August, and November.
