<br /> Planning Commission <br /> <br /> <br />Responsibilities <br /> Participates in various studies and planning issues that are applied to guiding the <br />development of the community. <br /> Conducts public hearings to receive public comments on development proposals, <br />subdivisions, zoning ordinance amendments, variances, re-zonings, and conditional use <br />permits. <br /> Makes recommendations to the City Council based on information provided by staff, <br />various agencies, and public input. <br /> Assists in preparing and updating the Comprehensive Plan which contains the goals, <br />policies, standards, and maps that guide the physical, social, and economic development of <br />the community. <br /> Assists in establishing goals and policies by studying background data, examining <br />development problems and opportunities, and working to create a long-range vision of the <br />community. <br /> Acts as Board of Adjustments within terms and conditions set forth in Section 2-326 of the <br />Elk River City Code and Minnesota Statutes 462.351 - 462.364. <br /> <br /> <br />Membership <br />The Planning Commission shall consist of seven members. Residency is a requirement to serve on <br />the Commission.
