-

WASTE MANAGEMENT

CITY OF ELK RIVER CLEAN-UP WEEK
INFORMA TION
October 17 -22, 2005

What to expect at the landfill

. Pull up to the gate house where your vehicle is weighed
. The attendant will collect your voucher and ask you questions about the type of materials you
have
. You will be directed to the appropriate dumping areas for your materials
. Drive to those locations in the landfill to unload
. You must unload your own vehicle ,
. Children under 16 are not allowed to leave the vehicle in the landfill site
. There will be large waste management trucks dumping in the landfill. An area is designated
for Vehicles alongside the area of the big trucks. There will be fewer large trucks on Saturday.
. Stop at the gatehouse when exiting to have your vehicle weighed again.

Vehicle Considerations

Driving in the landfill is on rough roads graded through the garbage mixed with sand. The roads are
maintained every day, but be aware that wet weather will make surfaces very soft Pick'up trucks or
similarly capable vehicles are recommended in these conditions. ~

Considerations for loading

Certain items that are recyclable or are not allowed in the general solid waste dumping area need to
be ~eparated. You will make stops are different locations for these so you will want to load then so
you can access them easily.

Unload before the general dump site:
);> Tire$
);> Appliances
);> Computers
);> Vehicle batteries-

ELK RNER
L~NDFlLL
lW;;j~J
-_-..."""-:-

Unload at different locations than general dump site:
);> Clean lumber
>- Brush and yard waste. This can not be dumped in bags,
but you can load in bags and empty them at the site.
>- Large amounts of metal that can be recycled

,\"::1
~
~(-
GO
