Expansion of their existing operation requires a Conditional
Use Permit under current city ordinances.
The proposed expansion includes a 39,000 square foot facility to
support modernization of their operation. The new facility will replace
a repurposed turkey barn that had been used for the research
operations. The new lab space improves safety, flexibility, and
efficiency for the on -site operations.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission asked some clarifying questions regarding
the applicants curbing request and the landscape plan.
Cargill requests Council waive the curbing requirement as the
remainder of the agricultural facility is largely without curbing. In areas
where parking and pedestrian areas abut one another they have
included curbing to improve safety.
The landscape plan provides 43 trees, and prairie plantings equal 48 trees per the ratio outlined in the city
ordinance. Ordinance requires 63 trees.
The Commission unanimously recommended approval of the CUP.
Financial Impact
None
The Elk River Vision INAWRE]
P u W E A E D 9 Y
A welcoming community nrith revolutionaryand spirited resourcefulness, exceptional
service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity.
