Background/Discussion As part of the liquor operations reorganization discussion in 2019, with the addition of a store manager, the intention was to eliminate a full-time liquor store clerk when the position became vacant and supplement staffing with part-time positions. Recently, there has been the resignation of a full-time liquor store clerk at Northbound. The standard in the liquor industry is that an operation should have one full-time employee per million -dollar sales. Liquor sales of $7 million ending October are running 12% higher than October 2020 and are anticipated to exceed $8.5 million. Currently, between the two liquor stores there are 8 full-time positions, including the vacant full-time liquor store clerk. This results in ongoing recruitment and hiring processes creating shift shortages in the stores. The liquor stores will need appropriate staffing for the upcoming busy holiday season that is upon us. Liquor management proposes to retain and hire for the vacant full-time liquor store clerk position to provide staffing for the expected level of customer service.
