The largest amount of housing
was built relatively recently, from 2000 to 2009, and
accounts for 27% of the total stock. Breaking the trend of
growing construction by decade, housing built in 2010
and later makes up only slightly more than 6% of the
total. However, in 2017 the City of Elk River permitted 113
residential units, the most residential permits issued in a
single year since before the 2008 Great Recession.
Elk River Age of Housing Stock
(2018)
Source: U.S. Census Bureau 2018
■ Built 2010 or later
■ Built 2000 to 2009
■ Built 1990 to 1999
Built 1980 to 1989
■ Built 1970 to 1979
■ Built 1960 or earlier
Elk River Comprehensive Plan • Community Context
D7[L\arr0]ASWAIMAM97ilk1W1
11
