r <br />Multi -modal & <br />Transportation Safety <br />Pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure is increasingly <br />recognized as an important component of a complete <br />transportation network, meeting the entire range of <br />mobility from the start of a trip to its end. In addition to <br />the transportation functionality of a trail and sidewalk <br />network, these facilities also provide recreational value <br />to the community. While providing multimodal options <br />in the community includes non -motorized options such <br />as pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, it also includes <br />public transportation and alternative non-traditional travel <br />infrastructure such as ride -sharing. Ensuring Elk River has <br />options for multi -modal transportation throughout the <br />community is important to enable those without access to <br />cars the means to navigate to food, service, entertainment, <br />and other destinations crucial to daily life.
