______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />FROM: <br />Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />August 10, 2021 <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />•Delivered 15 new water meters. <br />•Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop <br />ties from 14 water services. <br />•Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />•Completed 21 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards. <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />•Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br />•Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br />•There was a water main leak reported on Simonet Drive on Friday, July 16. Burshville <br />Construction excavated and replaced the water main fitting that was leaking. Staff <br />believes this leak was likely caused by wear and tear. <br />•Staff has started testing residential backflow prevention devices. The newly created <br />appointment process is going well. <br />•Bids for water main relocation work for the Highway 169 Redefine project are due by <br />August 19. <br />•Water department staff have done numerous scheduled water main shutdowns for <br />connection of new water mains in the Elk Ridge Estates and Reserve at Woodland Hills <br />developments. <br />•The annual leak detection survey has been completed. The water operators will <br />continue to fix fire hydrants that were identified as needing repair during the flushing <br />and the leak detection survey. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />•July 2021 Pumping by Well <br />107
