<br />.- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF ELK RIVER <br />ORDINANCE 90-10 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SPEED AND <br />DIRECTION OF WATERCRAFT ON ORONO LAKE <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby ordain as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 1108 of the 1982 Code of Ordinances of the City of <br />Elk River is created to read: <br /> <br />Section 1108 - Requlation of Watercraft <br /> <br />1108.00 - Definitions. <br /> <br />"Personal Watercraft" means a motorboat less than 12 feet <br />in length propelled by a water jet pump. <br /> <br />"Slow-No Wake" means the operation of a watercraft at the <br />slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage, but in <br />no case greater than five (5) miles per hour. <br /> <br />"Watercraft" means any contrivance used or designed for <br />navigation on water other than (a) duck boat during the duck <br />hunting season, (b) rice boat during the harvest season, or (c) <br />seaplane. <br /> <br />1108.02 - Applicability. This Ordinance shall apply to <br />the water surface use of Orono Lake in the City of Elk River. <br /> <br />1108.04 - Requlations. <br /> <br />1. All watercraft exceeding a slow-no wake speed shall <br />travel in a counter-clockwise direction. <br /> <br />2. Maximum speed limit of watercraft shall be 40 m.p.h. <br />at all times with the exception of those areas and <br />times listed in the next two paragraphs. <br /> <br />3. Maximum speed limit of watercraft shall be 15 m.p.h. <br />sunset to sunrise all year. <br /> <br />4. A slow-no wake speed shall be maintained in the area <br />extending 100 feet from the shore. Watercraft <br />launching or landing water skiers by the most direct <br />route to open water shall be exempt from this <br />provision. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Any watercraft owner or the operator thereof, if the <br />owner not be present, who violates any provision of <br />this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. <br />
