Staff has compiled information on temporary signs regarding their use, ho\v long <br />dley are used, a\Terage length of display, how many businesses used them and what the <br />ordinance allows. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />Section 30-866 Regulating Temporary Signs <br />. 2004-Present Sign Permit List <br /> <br />Analysis <br /> <br />Through the year 2004 to present, 54 temporal)' signs permits have been issued widl 9 of <br />those being repeat permits. The City of Elk Ri\Ter, dle Ice Arena and the Chamber of <br />Commerce requested se\Ten of these permits, wInch are typically located on City properties. <br /> <br />Currently a multi-tenant building can have only one sign on premise at a time. Ho\Ve\Ter, <br />each business in the multi tenant building is allowed one sign for 90 days per calendar year <br />whic11 \vould allow for a temporary sign to be on the property for more than 90 days, <br />possibly up to a year if there were 12 tenants and each tenant had a permit for 30 days. <br /> <br />The average lengdl of display of the temporal)' signs is one month, with a handful of permits <br />being 2-3 months. <br /> <br />Tile telnporary sign regulations \vere originally crafted \vith input from the business <br />community. If the City council is interested in making cllanges, input from the Chamber <br />may be appropriate. <br /> <br />Planning Department Mission: the orderly development of a livable and sustainable Elk River community. <br />
