Due to pandemic protocols, the DMV frequently experiences long lines extending out of the building.
The city does not have a policy or practice for installation of benches in public Right -of -Way (ROW). Parks and
Recreation has a master plan for park amenities that includes benches in parks and a bench donation program.
The DMV property line includes a portion of the sidewalk on the south side of their building. Staff does not
recommend placement of a city bench on private property. Staff also asks the Council to be mindful of the
potential impact on snow removal operations.
Financial Impact
The Park and Recreation standard bench costs approximately $2,800 to purchase and install.
Mission/Policy/Goal
The Elk River Mission
Attachments
• Aerial
The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional
service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires pi ospei ly.
M
TUREJ
Updated.• August 2020
