UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Mike Tietz –Technical Services Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />March9, 2021 6.1i <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• In February, the locators processed93locate tickets. These consistedof 2 emergency <br />tickets, 65 normal tickets, 1 non-excavation ticket, 14 updated tickets, 6 cancellations, <br />and 5 locate meets. This resulted in a 32.1% decrease intickets from the previous <br />monthand a 13.4% increase over the prior year. The locators continue to GPS and <br />validate datafor our electric mapsas time allows. <br />• Electrical Technicians completed 124 service order tasks, updated the power bill, <br />performed weekly substation checks, attended to customer meter issues and off-peak <br />concerns. <br /> <br />• On February 22, staff ran generators #1, #2, #3 & #4 and used city water for cooling of <br />the generators again without any issues. We will continue to use city water until lake <br />Orono is returned to normal levels. <br /> <br />• Mapping department staff has been working with mPower to complete the Integrator <br />software implementation. The planned rollout has been delayed due to unforeseen <br />database configuration issues with our existing GIS system. mPower is still working with <br />National Information Solutions Cooperative to complete the integration of CIS with <br />Integrator. <br /> <br />• Our new Substation Apparatus Technician, Jon Wadsworth started on March 1. He has <br />already been making suggestions for improvements in processes and will be a good fit <br />with the rest of the ERMU team. <br /> <br />• Tony Hubbard, our Electrical Technician/Electrician, attended the Minnesota Municipal <br />Utilities Association’s (MMUA) Metering School at their training center in Marshall, MN, <br />February 9-12. Topics included: electric meter safety, current transformer/voltage <br />transformer metering, and theft of electric power.
