UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Tom Sagstetter – Conservation & Key Accounts Manager <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />March 9, 2021 6.1e <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> In the last 30 days, the level two charger located downtown had 19 sessions and <br />provided customers with 569kWh of green energy. The DC fast charger at the Coborn’s <br />fuel station had 8 sessions and provided 64 kWh. The charger in the ERMU/City Hall <br />parking lot had 8 sessions and provided customers with 142kWh. There was a totalof <br />35 charging sessions and 775 kWh of energy provided over the last 30 days. <br />The major topics being discussed in 2021 by the Minnesota Municipal Utilities <br />Association’s (MMUA) Government Relations Group are: renewable energy proposals, <br />The Energy Conservationand Optimization(ECO) Act, department of labor charges for <br />inspecting load management radio receivers, Gopher State One Call processes, <br />broadband funding, and bonding for public facilities. <br /> Staff is continuing to work with Waste Management; McGrann Shea Carnival Straughn & <br />Lamb, Chartered; and Dave Berg Consulting, LLC. on the future operations of the landfill- <br />gas-to-electric plant. <br /> ERMU Staff is working with the City of Elk River Economic Development Authority and <br />Minnesota Municipal Power Agency on a potential new customer moving to the city. <br /> Attended the MMUA and American Public Power Association’s respective legislative <br />events virtually. Details of each event are provided in other agenda items this month. <br /> Staff delivered 50 energy efficiency kits to Tri-County Action Program, Inc. (Tri-CAP) in <br />St. Cloud. These efficiency kits will be used to lower the monthly energy bills for <br />qualified ERMU electric customers. Tri-CAP employs these kits when they visit clients’ <br />homes for weatherization or health/safety projects. The kits include: LED bulbs, smart <br />power strip, window film, caulking, caulk gun, LED night light, outlet and switch plate <br />gaskets, and a canister of crack filler. <br /> Staff continues to work with a large industrial customer that recently moved into an <br />existing building in Elk River. <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />364 <br />
