G.4f2 Controlled Substances <br />1.0Drug and Alcohol Policy and Procedures <br />The abuse of drugs and alcohol is a nationwide problem which affects persons of every age, race <br />and gender. The Elk River Municipal Utilities recognizes that work performance and safety <br />problems are created when employees use or abuse illegal drugs and/or alcohol. Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities has established the following policy on drug and alcohol testing provisions. <br />2.0Purpose <br />The purpose of this policy is to provide written guidelines in compliance with Minn. Stat. <br />181.950-181.957 for requesting or requiring employees or job applications to undergo drug <br />and/or alcohol testing. Elk River Municipal Utilities prohibits the possession, consumption, sale, <br />employees are prohibited from being at work under the influence of drugs or alcohol, including <br />, <br />coordination, reaction, response, or the safety of others. <br />3.0 Coverage <br />All employees of Elk River Municipal Utilities are covered by this policy. All applicants, and <br />persons currently employed by Elk River Municipal Utilities may be required to take a drug and <br />alcohol test. <br />4.0 Objectives <br />A. To create a safe and healthy environment for all employees to work in. <br />B. To provide professional, efficient services to the public with employees utilizing <br />their full potential. <br />C. To reduce the costs directly and indirectly associated with substance abuse in our <br />workplace. <br />D. To assure fairness and equality in the administration of this policy. <br />E. To set forth the procedures for the administration and implementation of this <br />program. <br />210 <br />
